A person who travels to Canada on business but does not intend to stay and work there is referred to as a business visitor.

Requirements for Business Visitors

Visitors who are here on business must display the following:

  • They have a valid travel document, such as a passport.
  • Sufficient funds for their stay and to return home.
  • Want to depart Canada at the conclusion of their visit.
  • They are not a criminal, therefore they meet Canada’s fundamental entry requirements.
  • They do not intend to enter the Canadian labour market.
  • They intend to stay in Canada for no more than six months.
  • Their main place of business, source of revenue, and source of profits are all located outside of Canada.

Reasons for Visiting as a Business Visitor

  • Attending meetings, conferences, conventions, and other events for business.
  • Purchasing products or services in Canada on behalf of a foreign organisation.
  • Ordering products or services.
  • Providing after-sales support, excluding practical assistance in the building trades.
  • Receiving training from a Canadian parent firm for employment outside of Canada.
  • Providing training to staff members of a foreign company’s Canadian subsidiary.
