Canadian Citizenship Test

You must pass a Canadian citizenship test if you were between the ages of 18 and 54 on the day you signed your application for citizenship. There are multiple-choice and true/false questions on the 30-minute test. The test is available in both English and French. The passing score is 15/20.

The test will ask questions on the rights and responsibilities of Canadians, Canada’s history, geography, economy, government, laws, and symbols.

Language Skills

Additionally, applicants must demonstrate that they speak English or French at a Canadian Language Benchmarks level of 4 or above if they are between the ages of 18 and 54. Your language abilities are evaluated by IRCC in a variety of methods, including:

• Review the materials you submit that show your language proficiency.
• During the application process, IRCC may keep track of how successfully you communicate with citizenship officials.
• If necessary, IRCC may evaluate your language abilities during a hearing with a citizenship officer.

Ineligibility of Citizenship

The following individuals will not be granted Canadian citizenship:

• Not having spent the minimum number of days residing in Canada.
• Neither speaks French nor English.
• Do not succeed in their citizenship interview or test.
• Unable to produce the necessary residency paperwork.

You might not be eligible for Canadian citizenship if you have a number of legal or criminal difficulties.

You might not be eligible for citizenship if any of the following apply to you:

• Within the last five years, your citizenship has been revoked.
• You were found guilty of a crime during the last three years.
• You’re on probation, parole, or incarcerated.
• You have a removal order against you from Canada.
• You are being looked into or have already been found guilty of committing a war crime or a crime against humanity.
