British Columbia PNP (BCPNP) — Complete Guide

Three Immigration Routes to British Columbia

There are three routes you can take if you want to immigrate to British Columbia:

• Express Entry British Columbia Stream
• The Skills Immigration Stream
• Entrepreneur Immigration

Entry-level and semi-skilled workers as well as skilled workers, healthcare professionals, international graduates, and post-graduates are all eligible for the Skills Immigration Stream. Except for overseas post-graduates, all applicants must have a job offer or be employed. Only skilled workers, healthcare professionals, international graduates, and postgraduates are eligible for the British Columbia Express Entry Stream.

BC PNP Skills Immigration Categories

Skilled Worker Category

Those who have been given a qualified employment offer in a skilled occupation fall under this group. In their skilled occupation, workers are required to have several years of experience.

Healthcare Professionals

People who have experience and suitable work offers as doctors, nurses, psychiatric nurses, or other allied health professionals may apply under this category. There must be a job offer that qualifies for one of the 11 health occupations.

International Graduate Category

Those who graduated from an eligible Canadian university or institution in the previous three years fall under this group. To qualify for this sub-category, a job offer from a BC employer is required.

Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled Worker Category

This programme may allow workers in certain entry-level or semi-skilled jobs in the tourism/hospitality industry, the food processing industry, long-haul trucking, or those in entry-level or semi-skilled jobs living and working in British Columbia’s Northeast Development Region, to immigrate to the country.

Skills Immigration — Minimum Requirements & How It Works

Minimum Requirements

• A salary offer that is in line with the provincial wage rates.
• You must have accepted a full-time work offer for a TEER 4 or 5 position.
• TEER 2, 3, 4, or 5 criteria for the entry-level and semi-skilled worker categories.
• Must demonstrate ability to support oneself and one’s family.

How does it work

You must first register with the SIRS in order for British Columbia to compare your occupation, education, location within the province, language proficiency, and wage to the needs of the provincial labour market. You can register by completing every step of the BCPNP Online registration process.

Following that, you will receive a registration score based on a number of variables and be added to a selection pool for the selected category. People who satisfy particular requirements and have a score higher than a particular cutoff are invited to apply for a province nomination in a provincial draw.

Candidates will then have 30 days to submit their applications via BCPNP Online.

Once you have a provincial nomination, you can apply to the Canadian federal government for permanent residency.

British Columbia Express Entry

In line with the federal government’s Express Entry immigration selection programme, Express Entry BC gives qualified applicants expedited handling of their BC PNP application and, if nominated, their application for permanent residence.

Through Express Entry British Columbia, the following immigration categories for skilled workers may be processed:

• Skilled Worker Category
• Healthcare Professionals
• International Graduate Category
• Post-Graduate International Category

Time to process — 2-3 months

• Must be in good standing in the federal Express Entry programme.
• Must possess an Express Entry Job Seeker Validation Code.
• A full-time work offer must have been accepted (except for the International Post-Graduate Category).
• Unless they fall under the international post-graduate category, they must have a job offer that is in line with B.C. wage rates.
• (Except for the International Post-Graduate Category), you must be able to support your family and yourself.
• Must fulfil the necessary language criteria (with the exception of the International Post-Graduate Category).
• Must fulfil additional criteria unique to your category.
• Employer eligibility is also required (except for the International Post-Graduate Category).

You must currently be registered with IRCC for Express Entry.

If chosen, the Express Entry system will submit a provincial nomination on your behalf. You have to use the Express Entry mechanism to accept the nomination.

Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS)

Candidates receive a registration score from the SIRS, a points-based system, which decides whether they will receive an application invitation. The score is based on a variety of variables, including education level, years of relevant work experience, and a job offer from British Columbia, which measure a person’s potential for employment success and economic contribution.

The number of points allotted to a candidate who has registered under SIRS is determined by the parameters listed below. All of the information provided in the registration will be compared to the information provided in the application, if and when a candidate is requested to apply.

BCPNP Tech

Tech draws are routinely held in British Columbia, and they invite qualified professionals to seek for a provincial nomination.

To alleviate the province’s labour deficit in the digital industry, the initiative was launched as a trial programme in 2017. The province declared it a permanent programme in June 2021. This programme is for qualified candidates who have a job offer in one of the 29 approved occupations in British Columbia. Additionally, the job offer must be for at least a year and still have 120 days left when the applicant applies.
