Apply for study permit

Student Direct Stream (SDS) is developed to expedite and simplify the application process for international students looking to get student visa Canada. The response to all requests, for study permits that are eligible for SDS processing, in around 20 calendar days.

SDS Eligibility Criteria

To submit an SDS application for a Canadian study visa, prospective student applicants must fulfil the following criteria:

  • A copy of the acceptance letter from a Canadian-designated educational institution.
  • A confirmation of the applicant’s initial medical examination.
  • Demonstrate that they hold a CAD $10,000 Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC).
  • Show proof that the first year’s tuition has been paid.
  • Provide results from language tests taken within two years of the SDS application’s receipt, demonstrating an IELTS score of 6 in English or an NCLC 7 in French.
  • Application at a Visa Application Center (VAC).

After Acceptance

When an application is accepted, a letter of introduction — officially known as a Point of Entry letter of introduction — along with a temporary resident visa for Canada are given out.

IRCC issues the letter of introduction, or Point of Entry letter, which must be shown to a visa officer while entering Canada as evidence that a study permit application has been approved.
