Super Visa — Complete Guide
Super Visa allows eligible parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to visit their family in Canada for up to five years without having to renew their status. Those with a Super Visa already will also be able to apply for an extension that may enable them to remain in Canada as a visitor for up to 7 years.
Having health insurance is one of the requirements for a super visa. You must meet all requirements in order to be eligible.
Eligibility for Super Visa
- Be the grandparent or parent of a citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
- You must provide your child’s or grandchild’s signed invitation to visit Canada, as well as information on the persons who will be residing in their house and a copy of their citizenship or permanent residency papers.
- Possess documentation of private health insurance from a Canadian insurance provider.
- It is necessary to pay for this health insurance in full or in installments with a deposit (quotes are not taken).
- Be good for a minimum of one year after the day you plan to enter Canada.
- Pay for your medical expenses, hospital stays, and return travel.
- At least $100,000 in emergency coverage.
How to Apply for Super Visa
You require the following before applying for a super visa:
- A letter of invitation from your Canadian citizen or permanent resident child or grandchild that states: a guarantee of financial assistance for the period of your stay, a list of the people living in this person’s home, including their number, and a copy of their citizenship or permanent residency card.
- Evidence that your child’s or grandchild’s household earns at least the required minimum amount; examples include: The most recent tax year’s T4 or T1 or the Notice of Assessment (NOA), Benefits statements for employment insurance, salary, job title, work description, and pay stubs are all included in the employment letter, financial records.
- Evidence of medical insurance payment from a Canadian insurance provider that is: at least $100,000 in emergency coverage, good for at least a year after admission.
- A record proving you underwent an immigration medical examination.
